The fatalities from the coronavirus pandemic worldwide have already exceeded 775,000 among the more than 21.6 million cases that are counted to date, with almost 13.7 million patients recovered, according to the balance offered this Monday by Johns Hopkins University.

In total, 21,672,429 people have contracted the virus, of which 775,246 have died from it, just over 4,000 deaths in the last day.

The United States remains the most affected country, with 5.4 million positives , and also tops the list of countries with the most fatalities, after exceeding 170,000 deaths this Sunday .

Brazil , with 3.3 million cases and almost 108,000 deaths , ranks second in both infected and deceased, although it is also the country with the highest number of recovered, more than 2.65 million, including its President Jair Bolsonaro, who has been harshly criticized nationally and internationally for managing the pandemic.

In third place is India , which has already exceeded 2.6 million cases and accounts for more than 50,000 deaths , while Russia appears in fourth place, with more than 920,000 infections and nearly 16,000 fatalities. South Africa is consolidated as the most affected African country - and the fifth on the list - with more than 587,000 positives and almost 11,900 deaths .

On the global list are several countries in Latin America, which has become one of the main epicenters of the pandemic. Over 100,000 infected are Iraq (176 931), Philippines (161 253), Indonesia (139 549), Canada (124 004), Qatar (115 080), Kazakhstan (103 033), Ecuador (101 542) and Bolivia (100 344).

Egypt, Ukraine and Israel have already exceeded 90,000 infections , while China , the country that saw the birth of the pandemic, is very close, with 89,375. The Dominican Republic, Sweden, Oman and Panama are also over 80,000 .

For their part, Belgium, Kuwait and Romania are in the next section, having exceeded 70,000 cases, a threshold that Belarus is approaching , which together with the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands and Guatemala have registered more than 60,000 COVID patients -19.
